A business west of the town centre wants to expand with a new permanent building.

Pit Stop Auto Centre of 42B Lawton Street want to affirm their commitment to the town with a new two floor building.

The architect speaking on behalf of the Congleton company in a Cheshire East Council planning document claim it will "enhance the appearance from Mountbatten Way, and hide the rear elevations and existing building. Materials will match the rear brickwork Colour of Lawton Street, and the windows [of the 258.34 sqm unit] will be timber."

The new detached building will be L-shaped and comprise of vehicle storage on the ground floor [sic] with access from Lower park Street."

On the ground floor there will be vehicle storage, toilets and a kitchen. The loft area within the roof will be used for parts storage in connection with garage.

It also claims that the development is "small scale" and will have "no impact on climate change and sustainability".

The document also highlights that adjacent businesses have had similar extensions and applications approved in recent years.

The independent business, which hires eight full-time employees, is open every day except Sunday.

Pit Stop Auto Centre will be contacted for further comment.

Cheshire East Councillors will vote on the plans at the end of next month.

You can support the small business by calling them on 01260 277300.
