Congleton disability champion celebrated with national award

A disability champion from Congleton has received a national honour.
Dr Deborah Lawson has been announced as the Winner of the Disability, Equality and Inclusion Champion category in the National Female Business Awards.
The awards recognise the successes and achievements of women across the UK, with over 800 nominations submitted this year.
Hazel Woodward, co-founder of the Female Business Awards, said: "The judging panel evaluated each nominee on a range of factors, including client testimonials and the owners' passion and enthusiasm for their industry and clients.
"Finalists demonstrated exceptional standards of service, client satisfaction and impact.
"To be confirmed as a Winner highlights the positive influence that Dr Lawson is making within her industry."
Dr Lawson added: "To be nominated for the national DEI award from the Female Business Awards was a real honour, and to then receive the award was genuinely humbling.
"I appreciate all those who have and continue to champion and encourage my work, and I remain dedicated to advancing dignity, fairness, and equity for disabled people and their families."

Dr Deborah Lawson is a powered wheelchair user, a multi-award-winning disability inclusion consultant, best-selling children's author and one of the most influential disabled changemakers in the UK.
With over 25 years of national leadership advancing disability equity, she has had a profound impact on accessibility and inclusion, improving the lives of hundreds of thousands of disabled people.
In Congleton, Dr Lawson serves as chair of the Equal Access Advisory Group for Congleton Town Council, where she plays a key strategic role in strengthening local accessibility and supporting initiatives that make the town more welcoming and equitable for all.
Reflecting on the event, Dr Lawson said: "It was a genuine privilege to spend the evening alongside so many remarkable women who are making a difference in their fields.
"Hazel and Janine have created such a supportive community with the Female Business Awards, and it was incredibly uplifting to see so much passion and purpose gathered in one room."
