A beer cafe in Congleton is getting new owners.

BarleyHops on High Street will be serving its final drinks come the end of the month.

However, it's not all bad news, with Tatton Brewery set to take over the site.

A Facebook post shared by the venue reads: "Over the past year, we turned down plenty of offers while we waited for the right fit for the town.

"We're really pleased to say that a local brewery group will be taking over 29 High Street from May — and we're excited to see what they bring next!"

BarleyHops opened 12 and a half years ago, starting out on Swan Bank in 2013.

In 2021, the beer cafe relocated to its current location on High Street.

The post contineus: "It's been one hell of a journey. Paul, Linda and the team, alongside Amy and Joe from Cocktails on the Corner, will be saying goodbye at the end of April.

"Along the way, we've made lifelong friends and been lucky enough to be part of some of Congleton's best events — Jazz & Blues, Unplugged, Pride, Food & Drink, and the Christmas lights.

"We've loved getting stuck into window displays, hosting everything from hen parties and birthdays to paint nights and baby showers… but more than anything, we've loved being part of your lives."

It is not yet clear which brewery will be taking over BarleyHops, which will continue to open in its current form until the end of the month.

Anyone with vouchers or beer stamp cards is urged to use them before April 26.

There will be a final send-off on the weekend of April 25 and 26, with live music provided by Daves Like These and Marshal.

The keys will then be passed over to Tatton Brewery.

A statement released by the brewery reads: "We've got some exciting news... Tatton Brewery is growing.

"We are taking over The Barley Hops in Congleton, a venue known for its great craft beer and loyal following.

"This is a perfect fit for us as craft beer is at the heart of everything we do. We cannot wait to build on its reputation while bringing our own Tatton character to the experience.

"Expect great beers, new additions, and a welcoming atmosphere for everyone to enjoy.

"More details will be shared very soon, so stay tuned."
