Congleton adults urged to boost maths skills during Maths Awareness Month
By The Editor 3rd Apr 2026
April is Maths Awareness Month.
To celebrate, Springboard are encouraging Congleton residents to sign up for a free adult maths course now, rather than waiting for the start of the new academic year in September.
With local businesses continuing to report skills shortages, the training provider says enrolling on a course can help adults strengthen their CV and improve job opportunities.
Managing director Adele Cook said: "People often wait for September because it feels like the 'normal' time to start.
"But starting now gives learners a real head start.
"Our students make steady progress, begin to feel more confident with everyday maths and many are ready to take their first qualification in the summer term.
"It sets them up well for continued learning in September."
Functional Skills maths courses are open to adults aged 19+, who don't already have maths GCSE grade 4/C.
The qualification is widely recognised by employers and often essential for apprenticeships, further study and many job roles.
