A once-in-a-lifetime chance to get your name on Congleton's busiest road has arrived.

More sponsorship opportunities are now available to local businesses for Congleton's 750th anniversary of our town charter. And this one is a big one.

Mountbatten Way, a road every visitor and resident of our town passes through, will fly prints with a heraldic banner which are available for Congleton companies to sponsor.

They will be placed along Mountbatten

Way and the West Street roundabout area. The banners will be six-and-a-half-foot long, double-sided and will hang from brackets on the lamp posts. The four alternating designs will observe heraldic tradition using bright strong colours and will be symbolic and pertinent to Congleton to reflect the market town's history, for example, our town's yellow and black colouring can be seen in one. Congleton Businesses signing up to sponsor a banner will have their company name and logo prominently displayed on the banner. There is the possibility of you being able to retain your banner after the Congleton 750 celebrations end. Jackie MacArthur, Communities and Marketing Manager for the Town Council said: "Banners will be sold on a first come first served basis with a maximum of two banners per business. "Banners cost £250 plus VAT each. To get involved all businesses need to do is complete the registration form and send us a good quality logo and details of what to include and we'll take care of the rest. "It is anticipated that the banners will go up in March and remain for the year. The banners will be allocated to give a balanced mix of designs, but we will do our best to accommodate any preferences." Due to the central location of the Mountbatten Way banners, it is pretty much guaranteed that all of the 27,000 residents of Congleton will see the name of your business, if you choose to pledge. There are also banners on Market Street that are available to sponsor. Jackie continues: "We have been approached by several local businesses interested in being a sponsor of other activities taking place during this important year for Congleton. "For an additional £250 businesses can become an event sponsor. This will give them a name check on printed publicity produced for Town Council run 750 events and on the associated web and social media pages. "The application form is available to download online at this webpage. Businesses are requested to contact Jackie MacArthur at the Town Council if they have ideas about any other ways in which they could partake in the celebrations, or if they any questions or queries about the sponsorship packages available. You can contact Jackie on 01260 270350 or [email protected]. They'll be almost 30 of these banners across our town, which aim to go up in the spring. So get applying if you are interested!
