Charity health programme improves members' physical and mental wellbeing

Congleton Leisure Centre is part of a scheme improving physical and mental health in the area.

Everybody Health and Leisure member, Adam Tantram, completed Everybody's 12 week Adult Exercise Referral programme with Specialist Health Advisor Victoria. Adam joined the scheme after being referred by his GP to improve his physical and mental wellbeing, at Congleton Leisure Centre. 

Everybody Health and Leisure is a registered charity which aims to provide 'leisure for life' by improving the health and wellbeing of local communities. The charity operates 16 leisure facilities including 9 swimming pools and 7 Taste for Life cafés across the Cheshire East region, and delivers a range of targeted health, sports and disability and inclusion programmes.

Prior to joining the programme, Adam led a sedentary lifestyle. Since attending he has experienced notable improvements in his mental wellbeing and has adopted healthier dietary habits. Adam has been steadily increasing his physical activity levels by regularly attending the gym and swimming, incorporating this positive routine into his daily schedule. 

Adam Tantram, Everybody Healthy member said: "Everybody's Adult Exercise Referral Scheme has been a great experience. The regular check-ins have been reassuring, making sure everything is on track. The 12 week Exercise Referral programme has made a big difference to my life and it's given me a reason to get out of the house. I feel my overall health has Improved, feeling fitter and more confident day to day. I would recommend Everybody's scheme and I have spoken to several people about joining, after such a positive experience." 

Victoria Clarke, Specialist Health Advisor at Everybody Health & Leisure added: "I have seen Adam's confidence grow throughout the 12 weeks. He has done amazingly well and has been a pleasure to work with. I am glad the programme had made such a positive impact on his health, both physically and mentally."
