By Matthew Hancock-Bruce 4th Mar 2026
You shine a light on Congleton's local heroes.
Nominations have opened for the second annual Town Mayor's Civic Awards.
Split into seven categories, the awards aim to recognise the contributions of unpaid volunteers in the Congleton community.
Congleton Town Mayor, councillor Robert Brittain said: "Congleton is full of extraordinary people who quietly give their time, energy and compassion to others.
"The Civic Awards are our opportunity to thank them publicly and celebrate everything they do to make our town such a special place. If you know someone who makes a difference, please take a few minutes to nominate them."
How to nominate
Members of the public can submit nominations using a short online form available on the town council's website.
Before completing the form, nominators should read the criteria for each of the seven awards (Community Involvement, Young Volunteer, Art and Culture, Environment, Wellbeing, Good Neighbour, and Team Award) carefully,
A special Unsung Hero Award will also be selected by the judging panel.
Nominations should include details of who you are nominating, what they have accomplished, why they deserve recognition, where their impact has been felt, and how they have made a difference.
The closing date for applications is Friday, April 10.
The winners will be celebrated and presented with a certificate and commemorative badge by the Town Mayor at a special ceremony during the Annual Town Meeting on Thursday, May 14.
