Plans are in the pipeline to provide a life-saving defibrillator in Congleton's Edinburgh Road.
Members of tonight's town council community and environment committee are to consider a proposal to investigate adopting a redundant telephone box in the road to house the equipment.
Cllr Rob Moreton is spearheading the call for the town council to take over the phone box. He says the community 'would like to raise funds to house a defibrillator in the box'.
The town council has previously adopted phone boxes in Timbersbrook and Padgbury Lane - but these were iconic red versions, not a modern one like Edinburgh Road.
A report to the committee says: "A question has been raised with BT about whether it is possible to adopt a modern phone box.
"If this comes back as a positive, the recommendation is that the town council adopts the box."
Congleton Town Council is committed to ensuring all areas of the town have 'easy access' to a defibrillator.
