A body recovered from a reservoir has been confirmed as a missing elderly man.

Staffordshire Police have confirmed that the body recently recovered from water in Knypersley wasthat of 74-year-old, Malcolm.

He had been missing from his home in Lask Edge, near Biddulph Moor, since January.

Officers were called to Knypersley Reservoir, off Greenway Bank in Biddulph, at 4.30pm on Sunday (March 9), where they were joined by colleagues from West Midlands Ambulance Service and Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Sadly, Malcolm was recovered from the water by fire crews.

His death is not being treated as suspicious.

A Staffordshire Police spokesperson said: "We'd like to thank everyone who has come forward with information as part of our efforts to find Malcolm and those who shared our appeals.

"Also, special thanks to the many Search and Rescue team volunteers from Staffordshire, Derbyshire, Cheshire and West Mercia."
