Astbury Mere Care Home was delighted to have been announced as the winner of the flower-based task at this year's Porthaven Garden Challenge.

The care home which is located on Newcastle Road, was crowned runners up in the overall competition too.

A spokesperson for Astbury Mere Care Home said: "After months of input from both residents and staff, we're so pleased to have walked away with, not one but two accolades.

"We have all enjoyed this year's competition thoroughly, which has given our residents a project to get stuck into.

"We are now enjoying the beginning of the autumn season and have picked the last of our home grown vegetables."
