Arrest made as dog dies following reports of abuse

A dog has died following reports of abuse.

Cheshire Police have arrested a 49-year-old man on suspicion of causing unnecessary suffering and being drunk and disorderly.

It comes after officers were called to Astbury Street in Congleton on Monday, December 23, following reports that a dog was being abused by a man.

The dog was taken to a local vets but has sadly since died.

Meanwhile, the suspect has been released on police bail.

Enquiries into what happened are ongoing.
