11-year-old boy taken to hospital following crash on main road

A child has been taken to hospital following a crash in Congleton.

Cheshire Police have confirmed that an 11-year-old boy has been taken to hospital to be assessed following a crash on Manchester Road.

It is understood the child was struck by a car shortly before 9am, with the road closed as a result.

A spokesperson for the police said: "At 8.43am on 28 February police were called to a collision on Manchester Road in Congleton following reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian.

"The pedestrian, a 11-year-old boy was taken to hospital to be assessed.

"The road reopened shortly before 10am."

North West Ambulance Service also attended the scene, having received a call at 8.27am.

One ambulance and a senior paramedic were sent, where they found one patient with an ankle injury who was take to Macclesfield District General Hospital.
