It is that time of the year once more, where the borough comes together to celebrate sporting heroes within the community.

And within this Olympic year, many of us have been inspired to get fit, or engage with the sporting community further.

So why not do your bit, and nominate a sporting hero that has caught your eye in Congleton?

Each year, Congleton Leisure Centre operators Everybody Health & Leisure give awards to local sporting personalities.

"Nominations for the Everybody Awards 2024 are now open," said Everybody Health & Leisure.

"Calling all those in a sport, physical activity or health and wellbeing setting in Cheshire East, who deserve to be recognised for all of their hard work and dedication in the community!

"This year our Everybody Awards will be ran slightly differently, where we will be going out to present the winners with their award at their club or at one of our facilities. [Previously, it was an awards night at a neutral venue]."

As with previous years, you can nominate a sporting hero in Congleton for the Sports Personality of the Year award.

This category is open to all, who simply love their sport and are achieving amazing things, whether that's competing at a regional, national, or international level.

Nominees must be a Cheshire East resident, aged 16 plus and their sporting achievements worthy of winning must be from within the from July 2023 to October 2024.

And this year's Everybody Awards is extra special, as 2024 marks ten years since Everybody Health & Leisure was formed.

So this anniversary has led to the creation of an extra category, which you could nominate someone in Congleton for this year.

The Decade of Dedication Award has similar criteria for the Sports Personality of the Year category, but is for ten years of achievements, not just the one.

Everybody Health & Leisure added: "This year is our 10-year anniversary as a health and leisure charity, to celebrate, we would like to recognise someone who has made a difference over the last 10 years, whether thats contributing to their sport or community through a health, wellbeing, or sport initiative within Cheshire East. Achievements to be during 2014- 2024.

Important information: Nominees must be an individual living and/or working in Cheshire East, aged 16 plus and achievements must be during 2014 to 2024.

Nominations for both categories must be received by Halloween 2024, and submitted via this link.
