Sharing in the excitement of your daughter's wedding is important to every mother.

However, the risk of Covid infection seemed to rule that out for Mavis Bours, 74, who is a resident at Park Lane Care Home, in Congleton.

But despite trips out of the home being put on hold to protect residents, staff still found a way to ensure Mrs Bours experienced the excitement of the build-up to the wedding tomorrow (23rd) at the town's Alexandra Park Hotel.

Home manager Jayne O'Sullivan and staff members dressed up for a special hen party at Park Lane with Mrs Bours styled as the "hot mama"

The hen party was complete when daughter Louise Bours arrived to visit her mother at the Kingsley Healthcare home which has a special visitors' pod with a screen to protect residents.

Louise said: "It was a fabulous surprise. Jayne and her staff are amazing.

"My mother has vascular dementia and Alzheimer's. It was a difficult time for the family before she moved into Park Lane.

"But the difference staff have made to her happiness and wellbeing is remarkable. I would never have believed it.

"During the Covid pandemic they have cared for me and my brother and sister as well."

Staff have ensured Mrs Bours will enjoy the wedding day too as they have arranged a Zoom link-up with the hotel.

Mrs O'Sullivan said: "We really are like one big family at Park Lane and residents and their relatives love us for that."
