A 15-year-old boy from Congleton has left no stone unturned to ensure the community's key frontline workers have enough essential supplies to get through the coronavirus pandemic.
Ever since Covid-19 started to have a major impact on the country, Callum Bloor has continued to go above and beyond to help those that are saving lives every day.
The teenager, who was nominated for BBC's North West Tonight Everyday Hero award, has raised £1,560 through a Just Giving page and donations from the community, which included a £250 contribution from the Congleton Lions Club to purchase vital PPE for both NHS staff and key frontline workers.
After seeing a plea on social media from Alison Cann, who is part of a massive team of volunteers who are making scrubs for the staff at Congleton War Memorial Hospital, for 500 metres worth of fabric to sew the scrubs, Callum gave the group £500 from his Just Giving page donations to purchase the material.
Callum told Nub News that he delivered 80 sets of scrubs made from an army of volunteers to the Congleton War Memorial Hospital over the weekend, which were "very well received" from the staff at the hospital. The volunteers are continuing to make further scrubs.
He has been using the other money raised to make care donation packages for the staff at East Cheshire Hospice, Congleton's Aston Ward, Congleton's Ambulance Station, Congleton's District Nurses and staff in ICU and theatre at Macclesfield District General Hospital.
The packages consist of shower gel, hand creams, lip balms toothpaste/toothbrushes, deodorant and other essential items such as tea/coffee, tinned soups, biscuits and cereal to keep the staff fuelled.
Callum has also delivered 90 cupcakes made by Teresa Humphrey, which have been distributed to the East Cheshire Hospice and the Aston Ward.
Callum continues to volunteer every day at the Congleton Food Hub, which is run by Shaun Radcliffe at the Vale Club on Canal Street.
Away from the food hub, Callum has also been accepting other items as donations such as tablecloths, small teddies and books, which he has then distributed to The Nursery and Black Firs Primary School.
Callum has set up a donation drop off point outside his house (3 Norbury Drive) for any residents who wish to give any food to the food hub.
If you would like to donate any other items, message Callum via Facebook.
