Congleton COVID-19 cases continue to rise, in a week that booster jabs and teenage vaccines were announced.

With the data now showing the impact of Congleton kids returning to school, an increase was expected.

However, here's how each area in and around our town has changed in the last seven days.

Below is the data of positive COVID-19 tests from the seven days leading up to September 10.

Buglawton has overtook Congleton West Heath as the most virus-heavy ward of our area.

There are a total of 138 COVID-19 cases, according to the most recent data from September 10 2021.

This is an increase of 34 from the previous seven days, where we reported last week's figure of 104.

However, Congleton bucks the trend of the wider borough. As cases were down across Cheshire East.

Between 9 September 2021 and 15 September 2021, 1,347 people had a confirmed positive test result. This shows a decrease of -11.6% compared to the previous 7 days.

Vaccination figures are expected to increase significantly next week, as the UK recommended 12-15 year olds to get the jab.

This group of secondary school age children - who are carrying a lot of the current positive cases - will be vaccinated from Monday.

In Congleton Town, 86.7% have had their first jab as of September 14, while 80.8% have had their second.

While it is unknown if Congleton War Memorial Hospital has any patients, for data protection reasons, we know four Cheshire East people with coronavirus went into hospital on 5 September 2021.

Between 30 August 2021 and 5 September 2021, 15 across Cheshire East went into hospital with coronavirus. This shows an increase of 150.0% compared to the previous 7 days.

There were 14 patients in hospital from Cheshire East with coronavirus on 7 September 2021.

There was 1 coronavirus patient in hospital beds with a mechanical ventilator on 7 September 2021.

There were 0 deaths within 28 days of a positive test for coronavirus reported on 15 September 2021. However, deaths have been on the rise.

Between 9 September 2021 and 15 September 2021, there have been 6 deaths within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test. This shows an increase of 20.0% compared to the previous 7 days.
