Property Solicitor/Conveyancer
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Property Solicitor/Conveyancer to join a Secured Lending team and play an important role in the continued development, efficiency and quality of the department.
Reporting directly to the Head of Secured Lending, the Property Solicitor will manage their own caseload of secured lending and property matters, including transactions involving company borrowers, while providing technical expertise and support across the wider team.
The role would suit an experienced property professional who is confident handling complex matters and supporting juniors to maintain consistently high standards.
Key responsibilities
Property and secured lending casework
The Property Solicitor/Conveyancer will be responsible for managing a varied portfolio of property and secured lending matters, including:
- Conducting comprehensive reviews of title and supporting documentation in accordance with lender requirements and internal workflows
- Ensuring compliance with mortgage conditions and specific lender instructions
- Handling complex and technical property transactions, including Transfers of Part, Lease Extensions, Grants of Lease and Transfers of Equity
- Managing matters involving company borrowers
- Obtaining redemption statements and letters of non-crystallisation from existing lenders.
- Preparing accurate completion statements and ensuring effective financial management of files
- Preparing and submitting documentation to Companies House and HM Land Registry, ensuring timely and accurate registration
- Managing key dates and post-completion requirements
- Carrying out appropriate client due diligence and ensuring compliance with AML requirements
Quality assurance and Certificate of Title sign-off
The Property Solicitor/Conveyancer will have an important quality assurance and risk management function within the Secured Lending team and will:
- Undertake full and/or risk-based file reviews of junior case handlers' files
- Assess files against legal, lender and internal quality standards before providing Certificate of Title sign-off
- Identify material risks, omissions and issues requiring further action
- Apply a proportionate, risk-based approach to file reviews, focusing on key lending, title and compliance risks
- Maintain clear records of file reviews, COT signoffs, feedback and escalations
- Escalate significant or recurring risks to the Head of Secured Lending or Risk Partner where appropriate
Coaching and supervision
The Property Solicitor/Conveyancer will act as a technical point of reference for junior and less experienced members of the Secured Lending team, supporting the development of their technical knowledge, confidence and professional standards.
Team performance and administration
The Property Solicitor will contribute to the effective day-to-day running of the department by:
- Working towards individual and team targets
- Ensuring transactions are completed within agreed SLAs
- Monitoring key dates and supporting regulatory compliance
- Maintaining accurate, organised and secure electronic and paper case records
- Ensuring data held on clients, contacts and matters is accurate and up to date
About You
The successful candidate will be a qualified Property Solicitor/Conveyancer with strong conveyancing and secured lending expertise, together with the confidence and judgement required to take responsibility for complex matters and provide appropriate technical sign-off.
You will have:
- Excellent knowledge of property law, conveyancing and secured lending
- Experience handling complex and technical property transactions
- Experience acting for lenders and/or borrowers on secured lending matters
- The ability to confidently identify, assess and manage legal, lender and compliance risks
- Experience undertaking file reviews and/or providing Certificate of Title sign-off
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
