Following a busy year so far for the club, Congleton Lawn Tennis Club is hoping to build on a successful gradual exit from lockdown and capitalise on the excitement generated by Wimbledon, by opening the club up to new potential members with an offer of free tennis sessions.

Anyone interested in trying out tennis for free can do so between Friday 2nd and Friday 23rd July.

Within this time period there will be four specific sessions.

These sessions will be held on:

- Sunday 4th July (in middle of Wimbledon fortnight) from 2pm to 5pm.

- Saturday 10th July from 10.30am to 1.30pm, (immediately before the women's final which will be shown in the club house whilst the club bar is open and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, and snacks).

- Monday 12th July from 6.00pm until 8.30pm and then on Sunday 18th July from 2pm until 5pm.

If you are interested in taking part, please email the club on [email protected] to register.

"We will be providing rackets and balls, people really just need to register and then turn up", said club chairman Rob McNinch.

"Members will be on hand to guide and help those new to the sport, and the idea is to just get a feel for what playing tennis is like and have some fun.

"I first picked up a racket at one of these similar sessions about five years ago, having never really played before and have been hooked ever since."

If you are interested but cannot make one of these sessions, you can contact the club on the same email address and someone will get back to you to arrange for you to book a court for free at another time, so you can still take advantage of this superb offer.

Rob added: "As well as our current excellent value membership offer of just £50 for a year, we are offering any new members that sign up during these free taster sessions two hours of free coaching in one of our group sessions run by club coach, Craig Leese."
