The sun shone down on Congleton Lawn Tennis Club's annual American tournament in support of the Town Mayor's charity fund.

Congleton Town Mayor Denis Murphy was in attendance along with the mayoress Joan Myatt and mayor's cadet Tom Gilman. Tom is the grandson of Doug Parker who presented the current trophy for this event.

The tournament was played in good spirit although unfortunately a couple of players had to withdraw part way through the afternoon due to injuries.

The final saw Sian McEwan and Kevin Graham beat Anne Moore and Kieran Beeston.

Chair Rob McNinch presented the winners with vouchers courtesy of sponsors Hot Spot from Sandbach and thanked them and also the mayoral party for attending the event and encouraging the players on from the balcony of the clubhouse.

£200 was presented to the mayor for his nominated charities which will be Christie's Macclesfield and various youth organisations across the town.
