Congleton Lawn Tennis Club chair Rob McNinch was pleased to see the energy and enthusiasm around the club at the moment.

All those months of practising serves over the washing line are having an effect but whatever it is Rob hopes it continues, and it's great to see so many of the courts full of players at the moment.

Behind the scenes there are plenty of things happening as well. This includes the launch of a number of working groups to tackle various areas of interest for the club, from coaching and junior tennis, to social events, teams and competitions and even strategy and vision.

These working groups are all chaired by a member of the committee but open to all members, so anyone keen to volunteer and help out at the club, get in touch with Rob via email at [email protected]

League tennis has now also resumed, so expect to see full courts on Tuesday and Thursday nights from now on, as well as the mixed doubles matches on a Sunday morning. Good luck to all the teams and players.

We are also slowly seeing the social restrictions put in place to tackle the pandemic ease, and we eagerly await the next announcement on the 10th May to understand what we will be able to do from the 17th May, as we hope to be able to start using the clubhouse and bar facilities again.

Thank you so much for working with the club and adhering to the restrictions without (much!) complaint over the last year or so.

In tournament news Gabriel Knott, one the club junior members has won the Thongsbridge tournament U8s event.
