Congleton Lawn Tennis Club's 2021 Presidents Trophy took place yesterday (Sunday, 25th April).

The players who took part enjoyed perfect tennis weather with the sun shining throughout.

After six rounds of timed tennis the semi-finals were played as championship tie breaks and both were very close affairs.

Nick Wilkins and Vicky Garner defeated Kieron Beeston and Jane Cummings 13-11 in the first semi-final.

In the second Simon McAsey and Maureen Taylor defeated Luke Coltman and Claire Wilkins 10-8.

A Wilkins family face-off was therefore averted!!!

In the final, Nick and Vicky defeated Simon and Maureen to secure the prizes of M&S Prosecco and Belgian chocolates, courtesy of sponsors Barking Mad - thanks go to club member and owner Becky Spall for providing such great prizes again.

Club chair Rob McNinch presented the prizes to the winners having thanked the sponsors and event organisers and reminded the players of the next event the Chairman's Trophy on 23rd May, which will be sponsored by For You Cakes and will see Cong Bear in attendance too.
