Post Office Ltd have announced that the Buglawton branch closed for "operational reasons", but remain committed to providing a Post Office in the area.

There was uncertainty surrounding the future of Buglawton's Post Office, which was located at Go Bargain Convenience Store, on Havannah Street, for a number of months.

However, the Go Bargain Convenience Store posted on their social media earlier in the month: "We are so very sorry to announce that the Post Office will not be returning to Go Bargain.

"After months of months of phone calls, emails and appeals we were told that we were not being allowed the contract.

"We are so very very sorry, we know just how much Buglawton needs a Post Office. We have tried everything possible to no avail.

"Thank you to everyone who signed our petition and supported us throughout. We are all just as gutted as you all are."

A Post Office spokesperson told Nub News: "The Post Office at Buglawton had to close for operational reasons. We understand how important a Post Office is to a community and we are committed to providing a Post Office in the area.

"Any retailer interested in incorporating a Post Office in their premises should email [email protected] or 0333 345 5560, then select option 2."

The nearest alternative branch is: Hightown Post Office, on Biddulph Road, Congleton, which is open 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday and 8am to 1pm, Saturday.
