Wednesday 4th November saw Congleton Lawn Tennis Club's host their latest tournament, which was the last chance for members to play competitively before the second lockdown commenced .

This was the Fun Fireworks Tournament which was played as a round robin American Tournament before semi-finals and then the grand final.

In the first semi-final Les Malgas and Lindsay Newton defeated Ian Parsons and Claire Wilkins.

Whilst in the second semi-final, Nick Wilkins and Margaret Wilshaw defeated Kathy Taylor and Anne Moore

A see-saw final saw Les and Lindsay emerge overall winners.

They received the trophy from Eileen Grigg of trophy sponsors EPG Accountants and the winners prize of vouchers from the Forum Chinese Restaurant.

Thanks went to all the sponsors.

EPG Accountants provided sparklers for all the contestants.

Town Mayor Sally-Ann Holland visited the club on Wednesday (4 November) to receive the proceeds of the tournament held recently in support of the Town Mayors Charities.

One of the tournament winners Louise Fenn presented a cheque for £100 to the mayor who was accompanied by Mayor Bear.

The players left the club knowing that there is now no tennis allowed for a month - hopefully we will be back on court in December.
