Congleton residents, Robbie and Ann Brightwell (formerly Ann Packer) are delighted with the town hall window displays to commemorate their Olympic achievements at Tokyo 1964.

In time with the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Games 2020 on Friday (23rd July), Congleton Town Council decorated the front windows of the Town Hall to wish all athletes good luck in the games.

The town council also commemorated the winning achievements of local residents Robbie and Ann Brightwell (formerly Ann Packer) at the Tokyo Games in 1964.

Tokyo 1964 saw Ann Packer win Gold in the Women's 800m and Silver in the 400m. The 800m time of 2:01.1 was held as an unbeatable record for many years.

Robbie Brightwell also gained Silver in the 400m Men's Relay the same year.

As local residents of Congleton, the town council wanted to celebrate their achievements from 57 years ago.

Both Robbie and Ann were delighted to be on window displays promoting the Olympic Games which they are so passionate about.

Ann Brightwell said: "We were delighted to be asked to be part of the Olympic Games promotions for Congleton, the windows look great and we are really pleased with the outcome.

"We are watching the games and wish the best of luck to the Team GB athletes."

Window designed by AD Profile and installed by RJ Signs.
